Hey guys. I've been checking back on this site on and off for a week and I just now noticed this Job Openings spot at the bottom of the screen. I notice that this is THE chance for me to get any experience what-so-ever in the game development industry. I've been seriously considering a job at Bungie for about 3 years solid now. I sat down all 2008 learning C++ and C# coding via XNA. Then I was 14, too young to actually understand the language and see any entertaining aspect in programming. Just recently, on my own, I've been looking back at XNA trying to see if I can re build my knowledge of the programming system. I would honestly love the opportunity to join the staff of Whisper. Being on the staff would propel me to new heights I never thought I could reach sitting at home on my butt playing the games I wished to make. I grew tired of just playing and started watching tutorial videos. This year in my IT class (I'm a 10th grader in the IB program at my school, soon switching to the AP program to reduce the Homework levels since I've been running several organized gaming groups and have been trying to find time to learn the programming language all over again) I was supposed to be learning C++ but the course had changed to a completely web design based course. I do have extensive experience in HTML, CSS, Photoshop for Web, Fireworks, some Dreamweaver, some Flash, and have am working on a site for my father's paintball field that, not to be a bragger but, frankly looks pretty nice if I do say so myself ;) . Anyhow, my main focus is to become a programmer and get some small time industry experience any way possible. If you guys at Whisper would be so kind as to let me at least learn as I progress in the company, I'd be beyond grateful. I take this industry seriously and I know there is no time to goof off. With the groups I have now, I've been running back and forth between them with minor breaks to relax here and there, although, Firefight Challengers, the 2nd largest Firefight group on Bungie.net, my baby (lol) I had to hand over to the second in command because my responsibilities were growing too high on my part. I do not plan to, and will not abandon you if I am permitted to work for Whisper. Again, I take this industry and this company with pure seriousness. To this day I run a group focused on organized play in BioShock 2's multiplayer. The group is 20 fans strong and growing. I have a fantastic vice president that does his best to stay on top of things. With recent hikes in my personal work times, I haven't been able to keep constant check on the group but I make sure to stop by weekly. If I am hired, I promise to stay commited as much as I could possibly be to the company and I promise to learn the programming languages along the way and to the best of my ability. I hope that even though I do not have a demo to show of my abilities at this time that I have convinced you enough to realize how passionate I am about game development and how it would be truly amazing if I had the chance to actually work with a team of developers on a full fledged video game for the first time. Thank you CAVX, Sarison, and all from Whisper for opening up this amazing opportunity. Even if do not get hired, I still give the best wishes to the company and I'd love to see you guys build up slowly but surely :) Thank you also for taking the time out of your day to read this, it means a lot. Hope to hear back from you guys soon, see ya on the forums! ~Darky P.S. As a side note, I notice you're not in need of any writers, but my works have been regarded as "quality pieces" according to my step-dad who is the managing editor at a local news paper branching out around Florida and who also got his masters in Journalism at George Washington. My Teachers have also seen my writing and I don't think I've ever received any grade below a B on an essay in my life. I do believe, again not trying to sound shushy, that I am pretty good when it comes to writing. I am very good with imagery at times, I pay attention to everything in a story, not just the general concept or just the back story or just this or that. I make sure that the stories I write have a beginning and an end with as much detail as it is possible to fit into the story and to make sure there are no loose ends by the conclusion... As long as I don't plan a sequel, then expect a cliffhanger ;) Last Edited on 3/7/2010 6:06:05 PM |

If at all possible, could you get together a port-folio for us of examples of your work? Doesn't need to be ridiculously hueg and beautiful, we just want to see if you're able to do the work. As it stands, we really do want to hire people, but we need to know that they're capable of doing the work before we officially let you join the team. My generic challenge for coders is to ask them to create their own interpretation and version of Pie Collect 1 using XNA, and send it to my email for me to playtest: sonicjohn@dsl.pipex.com As for your writing, it would additionally be nice to see examples of that, so we can judge for ourselves. Not that we don't trust your step-dad ;) |

As for writing, I have a fan-fiction I wrote last year and edited it late last year. The link is below. http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=23803349&postRepeater1-p=1 If you'd like I can write a more current example of my writing talents in this thread. As far as my programming, I will have a demo to you possibly by next week, currently I have a major school project to be working on and all this week my girlfriend and I have to put together a video with nice effects based on chemical reaction rates. I have a MacBook laptop and a Compaq Presario PC at my dad's house, there is where I can run and code with XNA. I won't be able to make it there until next week. I'm working on getting windows my laptop, just may take a bit due to having to clean LOTS of space on my hard drive. So anyhow, my writing can be exampled above. JediITL was my previous account back before I could link my gamertag. If you need proof, I can post something for you to show it's me. My demo will, again, be available to you by middle of next week. I hope you like the writing, again if you'd like me to post my most current level of writing, I can, just let me know! Thanks for the reply and hope to talk again soon! :) Thanks again!, ~Darky |

Hello there, I would like to apologize for my obscene behavior while working at Whisper. I took my job for granted and didn't take it seriously, which obviously caused for my termination. I feel terribly bad for being a -Drom- and feel sorry to those that i have offended. On that note, I would like to re-apply for the music/audio role at Whisper, so that I may continue to help Whisper move forward and grow it's sauciness. I am currently enhancing my skills in a variety of programs to better my music so that the game music, of course, can be sexier. While I completely understand if my application is rejected, and expecting it somewhat, I hope that you keep this in mind and allow me to make up for my inconvenience. Simply put, I was an asshole. I'm really sorry. Thanks, AJ Hallmon |

Well, my area of expertise is a bit different from the available openings, but what the hell. I have my own little recording studio set up in my office, with a full keyboard (strings, trumpets, bass, drums, you name it - I've got it) rig, as well as a guitar and whatever else I can find for the things I cannot accomplish with my trusty keyboard. I would LOVE to do some music, voices, or whatever else would require a recording studio. Yes, I realize there wasn't a job for these kind of skills, but I thought I would throw it out there anyways. I also wouldn't mind being an Octopus. I loved drawing stuff, though my scanner is broken - when its fixed I'll upload some of my artwork. I'm not the best with using computer animation or computer artwork programs, as most of my talent is with a pen/pencil/marker/crayon(lol) and paper. I love fantasy stuff - fantasy as in the art style portrayed in Quiff. Quirky and amusing artwork is my passion. If you can use someone like me, great. If you can't, that's okay! |

Hey. I'd like to apply for a 3D modeler position. A friend of mine who already works at Whisper suggested I should look into this, so here I am. Some things to note, I may have quite a bit of free time, but that isn't always the case, so this might, but only might have to be part-time. Now on to what I prefer to model: weapons. My best (but mostly only) work has been in the modeling of weapons like swords or firearms. I'm not great at designing weapons, but give me a concept or line art and I'll bring it to life. (/prideful spiel) I understand some examples of work are to be presented, so here is a Photobucket album containing some of my work. Examples Judge as you may. Oh, and all my models are made in Google Sketchup/rendered and for use in 3DS Max. Reach Sniper in 3DS Max. NEW: Lunium Omega (personal creation) rendered in 3DS. NEW: Gunblade rendered in 3DS. NEW: SSV "Normandy" SR-1 rendered in 3DS. Last Edited on 6/13/2010 11:22:11 AM |
